Bottoms Up - WordPromptChallenge
If people were drinks
And drinks were people
Queen Bee types would be vodka sodas
And rich old men would be gin and tonic
Dancers would be tequila shots
While the fun ones would be champagne.
If that's the case then I think, baby
You would be mint tea.
You're the spirit that takes to all soils
You're the fire that fights to take over
Even when you're cut and pruned
You keep on growing and you don't stop
Pushing, pulling, stumbling, squeezing
You always find a way
Even when they snap at you
You take it all with grace
Only you, when you are bleeding
Will embrace the air with aroma
Only you, in boiling water
Will let your spirit release
I love how it sometimes gets to you
That they don't even seem to care
But even then you never give up
You always show up to play
I don't care for hot gin or vodka
Or for tequila and its charm
Champagne may have its own appeal,
But none have got anything on you
There is no compare to the warmth you bring
Your tantalizing tingle reigns supreme
If mint tea is what you are
Stay that way, love, and don't you change

At this point I will disclose that my prompt was not really 'bottoms up' - I only used that because I thought it would be intriguing: the prompt was actually 'something about never giving up'. What did you make of this take on it?
