Word Prompt Challenges - Five Short Poems

I've been taking on prompts for short poems and posting them on IG (@spicesuturescribble), but of course they've got to come here, too.

The length of these pieces make me feel like I'm good to put them all in one.

Collapse

Even if every attempt I make

Ends in an entirely messy collapse

You're that type of hurricane

I'm happy to try to build my house of cards in

Crimson

Of course ours was

A crimson love

Blood and fire

I was red;

While you were dark

Cold hard black.

Blown Away

My friends make fun

For they think it's silly

How after all of

Five minutes with you

I seem to be blown away.

How am I supposed to tell them

Just how wrong they are?

Baby, five minutes with you

And honestly, I'm still soaring

Lost

First, in this world

And then in each other

To this world

And finally to each other

Something changed at every stage

But still somehow it didn't-

We were always lost.

Sinking

It is my fault

For assuming that

Your promise to be my anchor

Meant that you would

Give me strength

I guess I shouldn't be surprised

To have found myself

Sinking instead

*

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on these

And thank you for reading!
